It's been a while!

I'm back!

I haven't posted a "real" entry since I came home last week. Thank God I'm off today so I can update you with what's going on, or what happened (rather) in my mini-vacay last week.

So this is gonna be a kind of a long accumulation of posts about the events that happened in my homecoming.

Sister's Graduation

5.22.09_Rachel graduated with her Industrial Engineering degree. I'm so proud of her! It's a very hard major! Especially math yan, my weakest subject, hehe.. I'd rather memorize, really. :)

Grad ceremony @ the SJSU Event Center

Isn't that the look of "happiness"? She's happy she's done with school! Yeah!!

My sister's bf (Jun) also graduated with Electrical Engineering degree. That's so sweet, they finished at the same time!

family

sisters

another look of pure happiness, haha..:D

After the ceremony, we had the celebration at home...

Here's the ice cream cake that I got for the engineer!

lechon..yum!

And of course, what's a party without the karaoke!

My mommy started it with her favorite videoke song, "There's a kind of hush", hehe..

And we had lots of singers that night....

and took more pictures....

with Ngoc

Rach also sampled her drum-beating in the garage..I don't know how to play drums. :( It's hard.

Congratulations again to my sister! Mwah!

Lechon Paksiw recipe

Since we had a lot of leftover from the lechon from the party, I decided to make a paksiw out of it.

Here's another recipe entry. This is actually my first time to try to cook this and it actually came out really good. Thanks to my grandpa (tatay) for the instructions, hehe.. :)

Just have to "himay-himay" the lechon to pieces.

Then pour the sauce or "Mang Tomas" will also do for the flavor.

add soy sauce to taste

and also vinegar to taste

garlic...but if you don't have the actual garlic, the powder version will do.

then add brown sugar (or white), but i prefer brown sugar.

and more "Mang Tomas" to make it more tasty..

let it simmer...it gets thicker the longer it boils.

There it is! My version of Lechon Paksiw! And that fed 10+ people hehe..Ang dami nyan ah! :)

Last moments with Mikey!

He gets cuter everytime. I miss my little brother Mikey. :(

He was so behave in the party. Di na sya takot sa tao ngayon. Unlike before that he always barks at strangers.

Then it's time to leave again...to my other home.

Now back in SM. And back to work!

Speaking of work.......

Crazy at work!

I just read from our hospital newspaper that our unit delivers at least 300 babies in 1 month, more than any hospital here in the Santa Barbara/San Luis Obispo counties. Isn't that really crazy??? That's why we get really busy in there. Sheez..

Low census, comes really once in a blue moon. It was slow and now it's catching up on us. The bus has made its stop and looks like it's here to stay for a couple of days. Hopefully it gets not too crazy anymore. It just seems like this past couple of days, we've been having very "heavy" cases and complicated patients. Haaay...

Work's been kicking me in the butt eversince I came back. Seriously.

Btw...

The other day, there was a "patient" who claimed that she is 37 weeks pregnant. But then, when the doctor checked her and ran some labs and ultrasound, found out that she is NOT pregnant at all! Crazy huh?

This is the sign that's posted in our floor, for she's a suspicious patient. We had to carefully watch our babies because she was seen in our floor 3 times this month already. For all we know, maybe she's just looking for a right time to abduct a baby. Oh my, everyone's really cautious with this woman! I heard that she needed to undergo psychiatric evaluation. I don't know what happened after that because she was discharged.

Goodness gracious!

That's all for tonight.

Later, peeps!

Wow so much happenings. Congratulations to your Sis! Another daughter your parents would be so proud of.

Buti naman the swine flu didn't stop you eating lechon, hahaha! Looks delicious esp the "lechon paksiw". Maasim asim. There you go, Mang Tomas!

Where's the guard? CCTV or something so that people coming and out in the hospital are being monitored.

Take care and Happy Weekend, Diane.

@Melanie, talaga you like the dress? Ako din I like it, hehehe..:P

Masarap talaga sya in fairness! :)

@K.noizki (K na lang para short), yup nag-lechon pa rin kahit may swine flu. Yaan mo na di naman affected kung kakain ng pork eh!

Yeah may security na nakabantay 24/7. So far wala naman nakakakita sa kanya sa unit, which is good.

@ Mae, sure I'll do the tag the next time. Thank you ha.

Congratulations to your sister! =)

Nakakatakam naman yung lechon. Buti meron lechon dyan sa CA.

That "preggy" woman is scary. =( Lalo na dyan sa US, parang super scary ng mga ganyang cases. Kasi dito sa Pinas, mga psychotic people usually nagiging taong grasa sa kalsada that make pinoys aware na meh sayad nga but there in the US, mental patients can wander freely and u can never tell coz they look 'normal' pa din.

Diane, i might be there in Cali by October. I hope I get to meet you in person. Also Mae (in my psyche). =) Secret pa lang yun ha. Hehehe =)

@EyMi, yeah merong lechon dito at pinoy restos din ang nagtitinda syempre, hehe..

Yup nakakatakot talaga yung mga may mental disorders. Dati when I was in nursing school, I had a pt na may hallucinations. The next time I went to my clinical, she had a code because she took her eyeball out! Sabi nya the devil was telling her to do it! Di ko talaga makakalimutan yung experience ko na yun!

Ah talaga?? Saang city? Let me know ha. Sana nga magkita tayo in person! :D You made me excited! :P

i'll be staying in LA for the most part, but i'll be going to San Diego too coz I need to attend this two-day course there on Oct. don't worry, i will let you know kapag malapit na para naman magkaron ako ng friends na within the same state. most of my friends kasi are in FL where I previously stayed. =) excited din ako bumalik ng US.
