I ain't missing you!

Mini-vacay in L.A.

Had a long weekend in L.A., strolled around the Hollywood Boulevard again, this time it's with the parents. It was nice of them to visit me. So I thought I'd take this opportunity to take them to the bus tour I took last time.

It was fun but the only thing though, we did the tour around 2pm when it was scorching hot and we're "bilad" under the sun. It was nicer to do the tour when there's no more sun, around the sunset na.

Then we just hung around the Kodak theater plaza. Love this place!

parents

The Kodak Theater is where they do the Oscars, MTV awards, etc..Maybe next time I'll do the 30-min tour inside the Kodak theater..just to see the behind-the-scenes.

In Hollywood Blvd, there are characters dressed up. That's what they do for a living. The tour-guide said that they're not employed by anybody. They just dress up and if people want to take pictures with them, they could give some tips. Cool huh? Like this guy who dressed up like Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) from the movie Pirates of the Carribean..Infairness, he was really good and he talked like him too!

Lol, hehehe...

I had so much fun hanging out with my parents. It's funny, maybe some would agree, no matter how old you are to your parents you'll always be their little kid. It's nice to be a grown-up adult and all but it's also nice to be around the parents sometimes to feel like you become a little kid again...So pampered and loved, hehe..

The next day...
I was so happy to see my mom super excited to see Vilma, John Lloyd, and Luis' movie, "In my life". After all, it was my gift to her at talaga namang enjoy ang nanay! hehe..

But before that, we ate lunch at L&L's Hawaiian Barbeque around the area

Then went to the Alex Theater to see ang pinakaka-abangang premiere! Oh my gosh, it was sold-out!!! Haba ng pila! A lot of people wanted to purchase a walk-in ticket but it was really sold-out na talaga. Good thing I already purchased a ticket online for will-call.

The only thing, once the staff opened the gate to the theater, people started running to the front! Nawala na ang pila, tulakan na ang singitan na! That's the only thing that disappointed me and spoiled the moment kasi naman dapat may pila di ba? Anyway, it's okay maybe people were just too excited to see Vilma, hehe..

The movie started at 2pm and it was so entertaining watching the movie because every single "galaw" of the characters a lot of people are reacting, laughing, crying, and even applauding. hehe..Aliw! Lots of people in the audience were Vilmanians I can tell!

Some screen caps I took towards the end of the film..

The movie was really really good! I agree to the reviews that you will laugh and cry. Though it has a gay theme, it's not rendered as "bastos" naman and I'm glad it's still wholesome nonetheless. I loved it!

After the movie, the actors went up to the stage. And once again, people started running towards the front! Hay naku, kawawa naman ang mga nasa harapan dahil tinakpan na ng mga tao, hehe..Hay talaga!

Here's the video I took when they appeared on-stage. OMG, I heart John Lloyd! Nyak, kinikilig ako whaaa hehe..Anyway, ako lang ata ang nag-cheer sa kanya! Infairness, we're the same age pala! I'm so happy now I saw him in person na. hehehe.. :)

After the movie, just took pics outside the theater..

Syempre nagsama ang dalawang mahilig sa pictures! hehehe..

After that, we went to Max's Restaurant for dinner. Good Pinoy food! But I still like Gerry's Grill or Barrio Fiesta. Still good food. I like my own kare-kare and kaldereta cooking better though, heheheh.. :P

And surprise surprise! When we got home to my place in Santa Maria, my sister Carissa and Mike surprised us! They arrived 5 minutes after we got home. Way to celebrate even just for a short stay. :)

Yay!

Carbonara

And because my family was here, I decided to cook a very special meal. This is one of the most extravagant talaga sa dami ng delatang ingredients. It's fairly easy to make though. And this is mommy's favorite and this is her request for me to cook! Here's the recipe of my Pasta Carbonara - Diane-style!

Chop the bacon into tiny pieces and fry it...

When it's done frying, set it aside. Keep the bacon oil to sautee the onion and garlic for the next step.

Smile talaga! Because I missed cooking for my family. You get a sense of satisfaction when you know people are there to eat what you made. Not just cooking for yourself di ba! :)

Next put 2 cans of tuna.

Then 2-3 cans of Campbell's Cream of Mushroom

3 cans of Evaporated milk

2 cans of Table Cream

Mix until creamy..Add salt or soy sauce, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, vetsin to taste. Then add parmesan cheese (optional).

Then to prepare the Fettucino pasta, boil water + salt and olive (or vegetable) oil.

Bring it to boil 10-15 minutes until cooked

Yum ready na si mommy, hehe..Infairness, naubos lahat ang niluto ko at the end of the night. Simot lahat! ;)

Yum and it's better to eat it also with a garlic bread. :)

Kumpleto na sana ang family, we're just missing my other sister Rachel and my little brother.....

Mikey! This little boy just took a bath daw in the photo. Cute!

Latest covers

And here are my two latest renditions.

My own version of Missing You by Tina Turner. Heard this on the radio on the way to LA. And after that just had LSS so now here's my version. Everytime I think of you I always catch my breath.... :)

[Again you can click the title for playback and dL if you wish.]

Missing you

Everytime I think of you, I always catch my breath
And I'm still standing here, and you're miles away
and I'm wondering why you left
And there's a storm that's raging
through my frozen heart tonight
I hear your name in certain circles
And it always makes me smile
I spend my time thinking about you
and it's almost driving me wild
And there's a heart that's breaking
down this long distance line tonight

I ain't missing you at all (missing you)
since you've been gone away (missing you),
I ain't missing you (missing you)
No matter what I might say (missing you)

There's a message in the wire
and I'm sending the signal tonight
You don't know how desperate I've become
and it looks like I'm losing this fight
In your world I have no meaning
though I'm trying hard to understand
and it's my heart that's breaking
down this long distance line tonight

I ain't missing you at all (missing you)
since you've been gone away (missing you),
I ain't missing you (missing you)
No matter what my friends say (missing you)

there's a message that I'm sending out
via telegraph to your soul
and if I can't breach this distance
stop this heartbreak overload

I ain't missing you at all...(missing you)
since you've been gone away (missing you),
I ain't missing you (missing you)
No matter what my friends say (missing you)
I ain't missing you
I ain't missing you.. I can't lie to myself
And there's a storm that's raging
through my frozen heart tonight
I ain't missing you at all
I ain't missing you...missing you
I ain't missing you, oh no
I ain't missing you, I ain't missing you
I ain't missing you, I ain't missing you
I ain't missing you, I ain't missing you..
Everytime I think of you, I always catch my breath.

Missing you - Diane de Mesa

And this one is a request from my coworker and asked me if I could sing it. One of the rare songs from The Jets. Good thing I found the instrumental in youtube and just file converted it again. :)

Anytime

anytime now
you'll be my love
i know suddenly
i'll see your love will show
reading between the lines
and i have seen the signs
in your eyes
it may take you by surprise

anytime soon
you'll turn my way
anytime now
you'll learn to say
it's me you love
you'll know that i'm the one
who'll be there anytime...

and baby it's now
the night will break
i'll wait, i gotta give
the sun, the time to wake
and if the night grows long
i will just sing this song
it will come true you wait and see
anytime (anytime) anytime (anytime)
we're gonna be

reading between the lines
and i have seen the signs in your eyes
it may take you by surprise

anytime soon
you'll turn my way
anytime now
you'll learn to say
it's me you love
you'll know that i'm the one
who'll be there anytime...

anytime
tell me you care
somehow, somewhere
you'll love just me...

Anytime - Diane de Mesa

Have a good day/night everyone!

PS: Hope my family and friends in the Philippines are okay r/t the flooding. You're all in my prayers.

This song (Anytime) was way way back That's Entertainment years, it is so eighties. I'm hearing Kristina Paner singing this.

I find it amusing that they really have a theatre for Pinoy's movie, how cool huh? Then you get to take the time dining at Max, parang SM-movie watching during its premier pero mas grand.

This family bonding looks so special, Diane buti naman you always have the time to get-together.

Very nice bonding moments with your family. I'm sure you need that and doesn't it de-stress you? So happy for you and that pasta looks delicious!
I listened to your Missing you version and you know what i like about your covers, is that you don't copy the original songs. But they still end up really beautiful plus your voice is so amazing. Well u know that already.. I still love you singing acoustics though. How about that? Way to go!

Ang taray naman nag hollywood na naman ang lola! Pasyal mo naman ako next time, wahahaha..
Tenks for uploading the video sa premiere ng In my life, you took that ba? Grabe alive na alive! Gusto ko rin si John Lloyd tabing ilog days pa. hehe..
Yummy naman ng carbonars!
I like your cover of missing you, as usual! Anytime i havent heard. pero nice din sya. Yeah!

I thought you uploaded the whole In my life movie! Na-excite tuloy ako MsD hehe..Pero sige aabangan ko na lang sya sa dvd. Sabi mo maganda eh, i believe you. Priceless pics of your family. Very nice radiating to over here. Your cover of Missing you is very nice. Galing nga eh. I agree i wanna hear some acoustics ms.

Nice pics bb. Really looks like you had fun with your family in LA. (Just too bad it was really hot while you were touring)

Had fun even though we were there for only a day. Glad your parents had a good time also.

Oh I had the leftover carbonera for dinner. Still really good, but of course it's a lot better when it's fresh. Thanks for dinner! =)

@K.noizki, i can barely remember Tina Paner, hehe..All i remember is her song "tamis ng unang halik" when i was little. hehe..Where is she now? hmm..
The theater is actually for independent films they show here. ABS-CBN rents the place for the screenings.
Max was yummy food!
It's always nice to find time to hang-out with the family. It's so priceless, tell me about it! :)

@Kat, yup it's very relaxing just bonding with the family. I miss them already. :(
Thanks Kat for always listening to my covers. I can't show u enough how much I appreciate it. Re: my covers, I don't want to copy other artists' versions. I try to always make it diane-style. Remember that's what Julissa told me, otherwise if I copy then people just rather listen to the original song. Do u have a song in mind? Did you check out my cover of "the climb" acoustic?

MsDianeG said...

@Melanie, hehe..sige visit me and I will tour you around LA..wait LOL i don't even want to dare to drive around there. It's crazy!
Yup i took that video. Did you see the people cheering and getting all excited to see the actors? Grabe nga! Thanks for listening mare!

@Benny, oh no hehe..I wouldn't do that. It's really good movie and you should see it. Maybe rent in dvd when it's out. I totally suggest it 100% :)
Thanks for listening and I'd find acoustic songs to cover. Pero do you have a song in mind? Acoustics are also my faves to sing. Parang they are my forte talaga.

@Mike, Thanks for coming over with my sis bb. Even if it's just for a very short stay. Really appreciate it and you made my weekend even more special. :)

Decided to listen to the songs before I went to sleep. Good job bb =)

Listening to "Anytime" right now. Thought I knew all of the Jets songs but this one doesn't sound familiar. I like "Missing You" also, especially that little effect at the end.

Ok, going to sleep now. Btw thanks for the little shout out, and as far as us visiting you, your're very welcome. =) Think we all had a good time even though it was just a short trip for me and your sister. (Plus we had some good carbonera.)

Good night!

Your dad reminds me of mine. Grooving-groovy pa rin. :)

I still haven't watched "In My Life". After kasi magka-typhoon, parang a lot of us here are still in a state of shock. Pero maganda ang reviews. Although merong mangilan-ngilan na nagsabi na "overhype" lang daw.

I got thrilled listening to your renditions. 80s songs kasi eh. I always loved Missing You kahit yung version ni John Waite pa lang. At yung Anytime...I always play that on my IPod.

Pengeng Carbonarra! Hindi pa ako naglu-lunch while reading your blog. Ginutom tuloy ako, sobra.

MsDianeG said...

@Vayie, yeah my dad is so cool talagang nakipag-chickahan pa kay Jack Sparrow, haha..
You should definitely watch "In my life". Talagang worth-seeing sya. Kahit dito sold-out ang lahat ng screenings, and I heard they will have reruns of them.
Hope you and your family's okay re: the flood. That's so sad and tragic talaga. :(
Thanks for listening! I remember I knew about that song "anytime" from you. ;)

K.noizki said...

I have this project fro you. Would you kindly sing this for me?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AO13qHDngg4

Parang bagay sayo, eh? Thankyee.

MsDianeG said...

@K.noizki, I remember that song! I used to be a big Manilyn fan when I was little, hehehe..Pero I will look for the music. Medyo rare kasi sya. I'll try my best to look around for it. I remember I do have some of her other songs in my collection though though..Sayang na sayang, kung sino pang minamahal, etc.

MsDianeG said...

@K, Whaa I can't find the music to your cover request. But I'll keep looking. I love that song and it brings back memories.

K.noizki said...

Well you said you can convert it from youtube to mp3. Maybe you can try. I like it pa naman kasi may "deeper meaning" sa aking past... nax.

Pag hindi mo ginawa, bahala ka, galit-galit muna tayo.

MsDianeG said...

@K! I emailed you my acapella version. I tried to to extract the vocals from the mp3 of the track pero it didn't turn out good eh. I'll post the cover here when I have the music na. For now enjoy my acapella, hehehe...

Ghee said...

Nice pictures! I haven't been there din. Buti ka pa nakapanood na ng IN MY LIFE inggit naman ako. I just have to wait sa dvd pag meron na. AND I LOVE YOU SO napanood mo ba? I saw the premiere of that one, haha..Gusto mo kwento ko sayo?

Like your version of Missing you. Teka i got distracted, anong Acapella??? Daya, i wanna hear it too!

MsDianeG said...

@Ghee, nope I haven't seen "And I love you so". Maganda ba? I have a feeling it's so dramatic and will just make me cry, lol. Expected na talaga eh. I'll just rent it kung meron na.
Thanks ha! Pero re: the acapella, nay, let me just email it to you. :P

MsDianeG said...

@Rich, you should definitely see "in my life". Ganda naman, it's totally worth watching!
hehe...A lot of people say nga that I look like my mom. Yeah I loved touring them around, not that I drove them around. Di naman, hehe..Pero it gives a sense of satisfaction talaga whenever you make your parents happy di ba?

MsDianeG said...

@Nash, I can't wait until the "in my life" dvd is out! ;)
